Translators charge by the word in the source document. That way, we can provide a firm quote for a document in advance. However, what we are really selling is our time...
Some documents, like transcripts, require as much time formatting as translating, so I charge more per word.
- When a legal document is provided in PDF format, rather than Word, this requires retying many proper names, numbers and addresses, in addition to recreating the formatting. Thus I charge more per word for documents provided in PDF format.
- Some documents are simply more difficult than others. That is why I must see a document before providing a quote.
I edit documents translated by others (or written directly in English), and charge an hourly fee.
I can accept payment via PayPal or bank transfer (Bank of America, Banco do Brasil or Itaú).
